Kids will work on their movie’s story through storytelling games and activities, including storyboards and improv. They will learn to outline and script their story. We’ll learn about roles on a movie set, and camera and lighting techniques.
Throughout the week, kids will spend a lot of their time creating their movie with the help of their counselors, broken up with games, crafts and activity breaks. It is a lot of work to complete a film in just 1 week, but our Film Experts are there to guide our campers through the process.
Campers’ finished movie will be available for online download.
Pizza lunch is provided for all campers on Friday.
Parents may pre-order a hot dog lunch from the theatre (available Monday – Thursday).
Parents should otherwise send lunch (no nut products) and snacks.
Campers watch an age-appropriate movie on the big screen and receive a popcorn/drink combo on the last day of camp.
$165.00 per child
Grades 3+
1.5-hour classes – 6:00-7:30
5 weeks per session
In this special 5-week session, students are introduced to storytelling basics and the foundation of film making. Students’s creativity and interests are prioritized and developped, and a foundation is built to continue developping their skills in film, media, and storytelling.
During the 10-week course, participants will create scripts, learn & use proper filmmaking terminology, and touch on acting skills. They will also have hands-on time with various pieces of video-making equipment – digital cameras, professional lighting, green screens, editing software, etc.
While each filmmaking experience is unique, we aim to have approximately 85% of hours spent on the filming process of their own short film, and a brief intro of 15% of hours touching upon on different filming techniques such as, commercial, broadcasting, and social media.
This academic course is for the budding, enthusiastic Junior Filmmaker in your family. Students should come ready and willing to work as part of a team as they learn the very basics of filming and editing.
Showcase Night: Each session will host a Red Carpet screening. This fun event allows our students the opportunity to invite friends and family to celebrate their project on the Big Screen. This will be a 30min event and will include all films from the Session.
Learning Outcomes:
– Students will learn the basics of story telling and how to put together a film script based off those techniques.
– Students will learn how to take a story from a script and visualize that story to life.
– Students will be introduced to some basic lighting, camera, and production techniques to properly film a scene from written script.

All with the end goal of hoping to inspire the formation of new ideas, build on individual creativity and have a whole lot of fun in the process.
Our camp is offered to those ages 7-12 and is run with a minimum 1:10 ratio of adult to child allowing us to provide greater focus on your child’s enjoyment during the Movie Magic Day Camp experience.
