Matt Edmondson

Academy Program Manager

Matt has been an actor and musician for over ten years and has performed on stages such as Scotiabank Arena and the Canadian Tire Centre at We Day, alongside artists like Oakville’s own Johnny Orlando. Matt plays Jordan in the tv series Coming Distractions, which is filmed at Film.Ca Cinemas, and can also be seen on tv shows and films such as Star Falls, Flint (with Queen Latifah) and Private Eyes (with Jason Priestley).
Matt’s experience in acting started at a young age and, as a former child actor, he can teach and inspire our Academy students as they pursue their own passion for performance. Matt has years of camp experience including as a leader at the Film.Ca Make-A-Movie Summer Camp.

Josh Aubin

Manager/Instructor

Josh has been an instructor for 5 years for our kids programming and also works as a manager at Film.Ca Cinemas. He has a BFA in Film Studies and is an aspiring filmmaker with a background in both theatre and film. He has experience on film/TV sets, including being the production manager for Film.Ca Productions show Coming Distractions. He loves working with kids and talking about movies – but make sure you don’t ask his opinion on Star Wars if you don’t want to be stuck in a conversation for hours.

Jayson Padilla

Instructor

Jayson is a current Bachelor of Film and Television student at Sheridan College. He is a cinematographer, producer and longtime graphic designer and photographer. Jayson has had the opportunity to direct his own documentary supervising all aspects from pre-production to post-production. He has plenty work experience in the camera and lighting departments on multiple productions including short films and music videos. When he’s not making films, you can catch Jayson playing basketball and binging Netflix.

Bryn Perras

Managing Director

Bryn is the Managing Director of the Film.Ca Companies and has worked for the company in every capacity since a young teen. After receiving her Master of Science in Education and OCT (Ontario Certified Teacher) certification, Bryn returned to her family business and developed the Film.Ca Kid’s program more than 10 years ago, the precursor to the Film.Ca Academy. All Academy curriculum is developed in conjunction with, approved by and monitored by Bryn. As the mother of three young boys, she understands children and brings her educational and parental experience to the Academy to ensure our students have fun, receive meaningful instruction and are safe. In recent years, Bryn has developed her skills as a producer including Film.Ca in-house commercials and our web series, Kid’s Review Crew.

Jeff knoll

CEO

Jeff is the Founder and CEO of the Film.Ca Companies. Making and showing movies has been his passion since a young boy. He is an entrepreneur, film/tv producer, actor, and an elected Town & Regional Councillor. He has five adult children and seven grandchildren. He spent many years guiding his youngest son as a successful professional film & tv actor from tween to teen (aka a stage dad). Knoll has produced tv shows such as Coming Distractions and Kid’s Town and is a member of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television & Radio Artists (ACTRA), the Canadian Media Producers Association and the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television.

Tarneem Allati

Instructor

Tarneem is a recent graduate of Sheridan’s Bachelor of Film and Television production. They specialize in cinematography and editing and have had many fun experiences in different roles on a variety of film sets including director, editor, cinematographer and gaffer. On the side they like to play guitar (or at least make an attempt at it) and take photos. Tarneem finds joy in sharing their passions with the next generation of aspiring creators and sparking interests that could be pursued in the years to come.
